Trenchless Sewer Line Replacement in Omaha

Replacement with Minimal Inconvenience

Your sewer line is responsible for taking all of the water and waste that flows down your various drains and disposing of it in the sewer system. That makes this line one of the two most important lines in your entire home—without it, your waste wouldn’t have anywhere to go, and running water would present some pretty serious problems before long. So when your existing sewer line wears out and can’t do its job anymore, it’s easy to see how frustrating and even urgent the issue can be. In the past, fixing a damaged sewer line involved excavating it, tearing your property apart and leaving you with a ton of work to fix it properly. Today, that’s no longer the case thanks to trenchless sewer line repairs from our Omaha sewer services team!

What Is Trenchless Sewer Line Replacement?

In the past replacing a sewer line required digging large trenches that destroyed a home's landscaping. This is no longer the case. At American Rooter Plumbing, we utilize the latest trenchless sewer line replacement methods, such as pipe bursting. Pipe bursting is when a new pipe is pulled through the existing, damaged pipe. The damaged pipe is “burst” outwards, leaving the new pipe in its place. With over 20 years of experience and thousands of jobs completed, our Omaha sewer and drain plumbers can provide you with the information you need to determine if a trenchless replacement is appropriate for you.

If you need a trenchless sewer line replacement, our Omaha sewer team is ready! Call (402) 298-5414 today.

How Trenchless Sewer Line Repair Works

As the name implies, trenchless sewer line replacement doesn’t involve digging any large trenches on your property to pull your old sewer line out of the ground. Instead, it replaces your sewer pipe while leaving the old line in place by using it as a template for the new line to go in. The process begins with an inspection—your plumber looks at your current sewer line to make sure it’s in good enough condition to be replaced without digging it up. Significant bellying, pipe separation, or even collapsed sections are all things which would prohibit this type of a replacement.

As long as your line is a suitable candidate for trenchless replacement, your plumber then conducts a line cleaning service to remove dirt, grime, and other buildup that may be stuck on the walls of your pipe. Once the pipe is clean, they then dig two small holes, one on each side of the sewer line that needs to be replaced. Once the line is exposed, they cut into it and then feed a specialized tool through the line that’s attached to a winch.

Your plumber then douses a cloth pipe liner in thick resin, attaches it to the specialized tool, and then pulls it through the line using the winch. The cloth liner is tied off, attached to an air compressor, and blown up like a balloon so it completely inflates and fills the entire area inside the damaged sewer line. The resin then dries into a solid, durable pipe that eliminates a tiny percentage of the diameter of your sewer pipe—not nearly enough to make any difference to the performance of your line in your home. Once the pipe is checked for leaks, the new lining is attached to the rest of your sewer line system, the holes are re-filled, and your new sewer line is ready to go!

A trenchless sewer line replacement generally lasts anywhere from 30 to 50 years, and is resistant to many other problems including tree root intrusion and corrosion! Plus, the minimal impact to your property means it’s easy to rebuilt after this service is complete!

“Writing this as I currently have Brad and Mike in my basement working, and let me tell you these guys are top notch. First of all pricing was very competitive, and they offered me high quality materials to fix my solution (also made personal recommendations so that my choices were made well). Second of all, the professionalism and friendliness have been bar none. I work in a home sales position and understand the importance of professionalism, and I would recommend these guys to any of my friends or family. Replacing some piping in my basement and completely replacing my kitchen sink and garbage disposal, I am not hesitating to write this before work is complete because I am 100% confident that these guys are taking great care of me. 5/5 for sure!”

  • This is the second time I have used American Rooter. Were I not pleased with my first there would have been no second. They have become my plumber of choice.

“I called about my problem at 8AM and Jim Tighe was at my house by 8:30AM. Jim handled , keeping me advised of a problem with my toilet quickly and kept me advised as he went about his business. We also discussed future plumbing needs in my older home. Jim offered suggestions and quotes for several alternatives. He will return next week to handle the alternative I chose. If I weren't very pleased with Jim and American Rooter I would look elsewhere. Thanks to all involved.”
